Long entry about college and stuff
Well, I've decided it's time for a nice long entry. I haven't updated in awhile and I probably won't, so now's the best time to get caught up. I realise that if anyone actually reads this they might want to take a break or two, so I will give each section it's only little title for easy access if a reader decides to come back later. OK, here goes.
Este fin de semana I am going home yet again this weekend. This may sound sad, but I haven't spent a weekend (Other than orientation) here at school. This is the first time I don't really have a reason... But I can make one up.
First off, I was really sick last week and this week I've just started feeling better (Thanks to Prednisone. If only the stuff didn't have bad long term use effects). My mom found some book at the library about a special diet for people with gastrointestinal problems like myself, so I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately I can't have any food I'd normally eat, and no sugar! The book does have some recipes in it and the ones we've tried so far are fairly good. I could say I'm going back to stock up on some more food that follows the diet.
Another reason is that I don't really have any reason to stay here. If I can go home and get some good food for a weekend, why not? We do have these RTA buses here that can take you downtown and stuff for $1.25. It's possible, theoretically, for me to use them to visit Kayla over at UD. I haven't tried it yet because the only day I'd do it is Saturday and I haven't been here. I would have tried tomorrow, but Kayla didn't know how I'd feel (I have been sick recently) and she didn't want to get her hopes up and be disappointed. I guess that's another reason I'm going home... Nothing to look forward to here.
You know, I really should be doing homework so I don't have to worry about it this weekend... Unfortunately I have to wait until 5 to get picked up today instead of 3 like a normal Friday, so I'll have plenty of time. OK, time to talk about life here at WSU.
La vida estudiantil Here at WSU we have some nice dorm rooms, especially in the Honors Dorms where I live. They're pretty big and every two rooms share a bathroom. That's nice because an entire floor doesn't use the same bathroom... It's also quite disgusting at times... especially with four guys. Is it sad that I'm the cleanliest out of the four? Sometimes that toilet is just so gross I want to throw up! Luckily I have Clorox wipes...
My roomate's a pretty quiet guy. He listens to crappy music too loud with headphones and whisper-sings along. I can never tell if he's doing homework or drawings another wacky anime picture for his wall... or anime club. Sometimes he just creeps me out. And he stays up til 1 or 2 in the mornings on his laptop. I try to go to bed before midnight, seeing as I have a class at 8:30 all but one day of the week. It's a good thing I'm a heavy sleeper. I look forward to the times I get the room to myself.
Las clases None of my classes are really that different from high school. I don't have any huge lecture classes. Actually, a lot of my classes are small. Yay Honors Program. OK, let's start at the beginning of my day.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have SPN 201 (Second year Spanish) at 8:30 in the morning. It lasts until 9:35. There are only 7 of us in the class, so I can't really hide in the back. Also, our teacher is puertoriqueña... She talks in Spanish nearly the whole time and her English is very accented. The homework usually isn't too bad. It's all review for me so far. Oh, and get this, my Spanish teacher is my English teacher's wife!
Afte Spanish I go to MTH 230 (Calculus II) from 9:45 to 10:50 on the same three days. My professor's name is Svobodny... No idea what nationality that is, but I can tell you he seems like a normal boring math guy. I'm glad I didn't get some Asian guy I couldn't understand. The size of the class is just like AP Calc last year. The only difference is that the class isn't really involved in the teaching... It's all pretty much a lecture that goes too fast to follow all of it. Homework is due and assigned every Wednesday. The really weird thing about the class though is that there's a lab for it...
Every Tuesday from 8:30 - 10:30 I have a math lab. We have to use a computer program to do very tedious, hard math problems. Attending these periods is optional, but by the end of the quarter you have to turn in 10 points worth of lab exercises. You can only turn in two at one time. Some are worth 1, some 2, and some 3... They should all be worth more as far as I'm concerned. This is the only really challenging part of the class... Other than the subject matter, which is getting increasingly nonsensical.
Back to Mondays and Wednesdays, I have CS 240 (Computer Science I) from 11 to 12:05. This class is interesting. We learn java coding. The professor is a very large man... And he just sits in front of the class and talks about what he writes on his tablet PC, which is projected in front of the class. We get assigned Lab exercises and projects that have to be submitted online by a certain date. Every Tuesday at 2:15 I have a lab period to work on that, but a lot of work has to be done out of class, luckily all on a computer.
Every Tuesday at 4:10 I have (ENG 101) English. The class is less than 20 people and we sit around and talk about what we wrote for class... That's about it. We're usually assigned some paper to work on for next week and everything is submitted online. A lot of time in class we all actually sit at computers and read a discussion board before we turn around and talk about it... It's interesting.
Each Thursday at 4 I have a Spanish & Latin American Film class... Don't ask. It's part of my Learning Community... There are four of us. My English teacher also does this class. All we do is watch a Spanish movie and then post on a discussion board online about it before the next Thursday... Woohoo...
Tiempo libre Obviously, there's a lot of down time... I usually don't have anything to do though... Other than homework or waste time. I haven't really met anyone, and I don't really plan to try all that hard. Recently I haven't felt well, so a lot of that time was spent trying to sleep. You'd think I'd never have to worry about doing homework at the last minute with that kind of time at my hands... Well, right now I'm wasting it on this instead of homework. I tend to waste more time than I use... Oh well.
El fin I don't really have anything else to share about college. It's not really that special... I'm scared about my first math test on the 11th. The food's OK, only I can't eat most of it on this new diet. Not sure how long that'll last. I get bored easily... So an IM here or there would be nice... That's about it.
Rick out.

College
Wow... I'm in college. Cool. Wright State is pretty awesome. The Honors dorm is nice even though it takes 15 minutes to walk to my classes from my room... Oh well.
Right now I'm home. Came back this weekend for a wedding. It was a nice wedding. I danced a little... Not much.
Well, Browns are on. Gotta watch!
Oh yeah! That chat thing on the right is pretty cool. If I'm signed on you can talk to me just like any instant messenger. Cool, eh?
